About the Foundation

The Foundation

The Shepherd of the Lake Foundation was chartered as a nonprofit corporation on February 24th, 1989. The Foundation was started to assist in carrying out the charitable, educational, and religious purposes of the Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church.

The Mission

The Shepherd of the Lake Foundation is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation chartered by the state of Minnesota. Its sole purpose is to accumulate funds, the earnings of which directly support the ministry of Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church. Principal is invested in perpetuity, unless donations are designated to the John Anderson Youth Scholarship Fund or the Theodore Anderson Seminary Scholarship Fund.

Board of Directors

The Foundation Board of Directors is composed of up to 12 members of the Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church congregation. They serve three-year terms, solicit contributions, and manage Foundation funds.

Scholarships

  • Theodore Anderson Seminary Scholarship Fund
    The Theodore Anderson Seminary Scholarship is named in honor of Foundation founder Ted Anderson. It provides financial support for members of Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church who are students at a school affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and intend to become Lutheran pastors.
  • John Anderson Youth Scholarship Fund
    The John Anderson Youth Scholarship Fund is used to support youth in need of financial assistance to participate in youth activities. These funds may be requested by Youth Ministry staff members with approval from the Director of Youth Ministries.
